Intellectual property
Intellectual property rights are essential to the long-term strategic plan of Kortide with Elastos, its independently developed operating system, possessing its own intellectual property rights. During the years of researching and developing Elastos, a number of products with intellectual property rights were developed with intellectual rights such as invention patents, software copyrights, software products and trademarks.
Kortide has established a department of legal and intellectual property rights comprised of professionals to oversee the management of corporate issues concerning intellectual property rights. Technical researchers and developers are also encouraged to write the materials for invention patent applications. At the same time, Kortide continually works to perfect its intellectual property rights system to reinforce corporate management of patents and property rights. A performance assessment system along with an assessment of technical innovation provides methods of assessing current patents. The profit distribution of patents and the bounty amount is increased to establish an effective encouraging mechanism while perfecting regulations and systems related to patents. Consequently, an effective mechanism of patents is created, aiming to promote and protect independent corporate intellectual property rights.
By the end of April 2007, Kortide had already applied for 43 patents: 31 patents in mainland China, 4 patents in Hong Kong and 8 patents in the United States. Kortide obtained 7 authorized Chinese invention patents, 12 certificates of software copyright and 7 registration certificates of software products out of 8 applications. Kortide possesses 12 registered trademarks, another 11 (with registration numbers) in the process of applying for approval and 8 (without registration numbers) in the process of applying for hearing.
